Help us improve lives of Haitian people!

Since the earthquake of January 12th, 2010 left over 200,000 dead, leaving millions homeless and further crippling the struggling island nation, the Western Canada Relief for Haiti (a Saskatchewan based non-profit relief group comprised of experienced volunteers) has donated their own time and money to improving several communities in the epicentre, which has received very little aid.

2nd Annual Western Canada Relief For Haiti Gala

The 2nd Annual Relief Gala for Haiti marked the one year anniversary of the Haiti Earthquake. The gala held on Friday January 14th 2011, at the Regina Italian Club was a resounding success.

The evening was well attended by over 160 people. Our goal of raising enough money for the small bakery was achieved. The gala was attended by young and old who also purchased many of the auctioned items.

It is this generosity from our supporters that enable us to continuing helping the villagers in HAITI. Our small village of La petite Savanne will benefit greatly once the bakery is up and operating. Our Team would like to thank all who attended and gave generously to this project.

And the evening Gala included silent auctions and several interesting items of Haitian art for sale. A local band to provided entertainment during the evening.

Western Canada Relief For Haiti Gala was an event to raise much needed funds for rural based community projects including two communities in Haiti, which 40% of the homes were destroyed.  The funds raised will help with various projects:

• House repairs
• Basic Services (water, shower facilities)
• Road repair to allow access for further aid
• Infrastructure rebuilding such as local bakeries and general stores
• Haitian/ Canadian students Exchange project
• Employing Haitian workers for our projects

The Gala was held at the Regina Italian Club.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people who have financially contributed to our Haitian Mission. A special thanks to all of our volunteers who continue to work tirelessly in helping the people in our villages of Mount-rouge and La Petite Savanne in the Grand-Goave area.
